. we trained him. i learned today that dorner sent me a package to my office here in cnn in new york. the package arrived on february 1st. i receive a lot of strange packages and letters and we have a system in place for dealing with them. i did not personally see this package or know about it until today. the package contained a dvd and a bullet-riddled keepsake coin called the challenge coin. it's nomhis former boss, william bradden, who joins me shortly to talk about it. that coin had three bullet holes in the center, as you can see. and one partial hole on its edge, on the upper right-hand corner of the coin. we're going to show you more of the contents of that package in a moment. in addition, we're going to talk to a veteran crime reporter about ways of stopping a revenge killer, and chris lawrence on the type of sniper training the suspect has. but we begin with randi kaye. >> we're under attack. that was the word from one california police lieutenant after at li threast three offic were shot early thursday morning. one officer died. police say the shooter is this man, 33-year

are feeling are coming right at us. there goes my hat. i'm sure cnn will give me another one. it's white-out conditions here. this is wet snow because it's 34 degrees, and that's the huge problem. that's why you have 87,000 customers in rhode island alone without power. because the snow is building up on the power lines. it's bringing them down. we just talked to the mayor's representative. he told us in providence alone, they have had 60 calls of downed trees or downed power lines. they have 120 vehicles alone on the road in providence. it's getting worse by the hour. when you talk about what the long-term projection is here, i just looked online. we haven't even seen the worst of it. it says at 11:00, we're going to get the heavier winds coming in here. that's a big concern. what makes this very different than the great blizzard of 1978 we're told by the governor, is that the technology is so much better. i saw it in play tonight at the emergency command center. the gps they have on the plows that are out there, the advance warning they have, is significant, but i will tell you, they c

discrepancy between the l.a. times, cnn and others have been reporting that christopher dorner's body had been recovered at least a body from that cabin and announcement from the lapd and the announcement that no body has been recovered? >> it is a mystery for sure. it is a very unusual situation that i, at least, in five years of covering the lapd have not found myself in. we can speculate that it might have something to do with them wanting to be 110% sure they know what they are talking about and getting a little frustrated they have some leaks coming out of the scene, or at least authorities on the scene talking to news agencies before they want to. especially in situations like this. the departments try -- usually futilely to put wraps on things until they go publicly and that might be what we are seeing here. >> if authorities thought there was any chance that dorner survived or escaped that -- you would think they would be explicit about that to give a warning to people that live in the area because this property that the suspect was on is about ten acres in size, according to to family
